From Markets to Mega Malls

Shopping in Bangkok is one of the most exciting experiences for anyone looking to really experience a bargain paradise. From modern ‘mega-malls’ to huge street markets you are guaranteed to find exactly what you are looking for plus a whole load of added extras. You can pick up almost anything during a shopping trip in Bangkok, from antiques to designer jewellery and perhaps even a live rooster?

One of the most famous shopping malls in Bangkok is the MBK (Mah Boon Kong) a huge multi storey buildings packed with around 2,000 shops. You may need to spend a full day in the MBK as you make your way around the fashion, electronics, jewellery and furniture stores before heading for lunch in one of the hundreds of restaurants. If you are looking for bargains, the MBK is definitely the place to start, just make sure you take one of the complimentary maps!

Bangkok is famous for its huge street markets and the weekly Chatuchak Weekend Market is the biggest of them all. Covering almost 35 acres of land the market has over 15,000 stalls selling everything from clothing to home goods and souvenirs to live animals. Although you might not want to pick up a Burmese python, the atmosphere in the market place is worth spending the hours needed to explore everything that the Chatuchak has to offer.
